Sara Dronet

Hey everyone!  My name is Sara Dronet and I am currently a senior majoring in Public Relations with a minor in Business-Marketing.  I was born and raised in Lafayette, so when I made the decision to come to school at UL Lafayette, my major concern was for my college years becoming a continuation of high school.  I was extremely involved at my high school and I knew that I wanted to gain everything out of the college experience that I could right away.

My freshman year here I tried out and became a member of the Ragin’ Jazz dance team which I was a part of for the Fall 2008-Spring 2009 season. While on the Ragin’ Jazz, I was able to perform at the first saints game of the season, travel to Disney World for college nationals where our team placed in the top 10 in the nation, and also cheer on our Ragin’ Cajuns at numerous events.

I also pledged Delta Delta Delta sorority my freshman year.  I immediately became friends with new individuals and quickly saw my college life take a completely new road.  Joining a sorority opened up the doors to so many campus wide activities as well as brought along a group of girls that have become true sisters for me. I have served as Vice President of Public Relations, Vice President of Membership, and Collegiate Alumni Relations. I am currently the Vice President of Administration for Delta Delta Delta.

After my first year at the university, I became a member of the Student Orientation Staff.  Being a part of this staff brought about a new family, a better understanding for my University, and a love for all of the traditions that we have on this campus.  We all traveled as a team to an orientation conference where we were able to develop unbreakable bonds and learn even more about the orientation process.  Student Orientation Staff also led me to becoming a part of the first ever Lead Staff for SOUL Camp at UL Lafayette.  I am extremely grateful for having had the opportunity to be a part of a newly implemented program along with working on the side of some of this university’s student leaders to help acclimate first time freshman in a completely new way.

In addition, I am currently serving as the Student Government Association’s Vice President on the Executive Branch.  I have represented my college as a Senator for the College of Liberal Arts.  I am proud to be representing this university as a voice for the student body as a whole.  I am currently serving on the communications committee for the student body as well.

I am also a part of the Honors College at UL Lafayette along with being a member of the Blue Key Honors Society.

I never thought that my college experience would transform so quickly into what it has become.  I cannot believe that I am already embarking on my senior year at UL Lafayette.  I love everything about our university and could not imagine myself wearing anything but red and white.

In the future, I plan on attending law school with the dreams of becoming a Lobbyist.  I feel that this University has offered me so much thus far.  Every organization that I have become a part of already has helped me develop skills for my future career path and life.  If I had an words of advice for incoming or felllow students it would be the savor every moment, leave your mark on this camps, and apply yourself in everything you do.  Your studies are important but what you do outside of the classroom will help you grow way more than you could ever imagine as well. I grew up a Ragin’ Cajun and have a long built love for this University that only continues to flourish and I wish all the best for you.
